The Like-New Guest Bath
December 22, 2011As you saw in yesterday's sneak peek, we have completely redone the guest bath. Here's what it looked like before. Brown, brown and more brown, which usually isn't a problem, as long as it's chocolate. One day I was on Pinterest, and I got a hankering for redecorating, even though 70% of our house has yet to be decorated. I had been thinking about redoing the guest bath for a while, so I started with that. It's a small space; it wouldn't cost much.
A wall that was once home to a lonely towel rack now looks like this:
You'll remember these from the sneak peek. I found that cute basket at Hobby Lobby for $3.50 and the soap only cost around $1.50. I love bargains.
Do you see it? The LED candle? I got a 3-pack with batteries for $3.50. Can't beat that.
All the little glass containers were 50% off at Hobby Lobby. I loaded up.
You would not believe how good it smells either. The bath crystals are Bath & Body Works' eucalyptus spearmint, and wow! You'll just have to come visit us :)
Here's what the countertop looks like now:
I tried to get that warm, welcoming vibe from this little space. Hopefully I accomplished it. Who wants to be the first guests to visit and let me know how I did? :)
The toilet is never an attractive feat, but nonetheless, it can't be ignored. I used a cute little box mom had given me to put some monogrammed wash cloths in. The brown candle atop the green candle holder is another LED candle. I'm addicted. And what is supposed to be a potpourri holder is being used to hold sugar scrub for guests who hand soap just doesn't do the job for.
This was such a quick and easy fix to a space that was pretty blah before. It is now one of my favorite little nooks in the house. That being said, the only thing hanging up in the living room besides a clock is this painting above the mantle, and what's on the dining room wall is fixing to come down to make way for a plate collage. I have nothing on the walls in our master bedroom, study, or 2 guest bedrooms. So really, the only spaces completed are the kitchen and the guest bath. I like taking my time with the different rooms and the different feels I want each of them to have. I just wish I could win the lottery or something so I could finish it all at once.
Thanks for taking this ride along with me! Looking at the stats, it looks like y'all are definitely most interested in our house projects, but that's mostly all I post about :)
If I don't post again until after Christmas, we hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!!
