Mimosas, Crafting and Vintage Photos: How the Pinterest Party Came Together

September 27, 2013

If you've been following along for the last couple months, you know I've been planning a vintage-inspired Pinterest party. I have always loved planning events and thinking of ANY excuse to have friends over, and this turned out to be a perfect idea!

From my hand-crafted Save-the-Dates, burlap & lace utensil holders and spruced-up plastic cups to the photo booth props and invites, I had SO much fun preparing for this party. I couldn't wait to bring everything together, take photos and share them with you!

If you don't know what a Pinterest party is, there are apparently a few different ways you can do it. I pinned several different fall-themed craft projects to a Pinterest board and numbered each one. When I sent the invites out to the guests, I instructed them to visit the Pinterest board and vote for their top four favorite projects. They mailed back their choices on their RSVP cards and I tracked each one. The one most-voted turned out to be a monogram door ornament, so when we gathered at the party, we made our own! Since Hobby Lobby and Michael's have tons of letter sizes and types to choose from, I had the guests bring their own letters to decorate. I provided paint, scrapbook paper and mod podge, fall accessories and burlap ribbon to decorate with. Add some food and drinks, and you've got a reason to fellowship with great friends!

The Set-up

The night before, we set up the tables and chairs--including the beautiful centerpieces. Thanks to my sister for putting them together!

Food & Drinks

The most important part of any party: The food and drinks! I had so much fun with this part.

No brunch is complete without mimosas, right?

I found so many awesome mimosa bar ideas on Pinterest and I couldn't wait to add my own touches! Click HERE to see how I put mine together.

I also loved the idea of a yogurt bar.

I am not usually a fan of yogurt, and even I enjoyed it. HERE is how my yogurt bar turned out.

At the Walls', we believe it's never too early for a good old-fashioned s'more. Plus, the beautiful crisp morning was just begging for a campfire, so I had Hubs light a small one for those who wanted to roast a marshmallow or two.

I recycled this s'mores idea from last year's Halloween party. So fun!

Also, what's a party without cupcakes?

These are mini cupcakes from Gigi's. Yum. :)

Coffee to go with your cupcakes, anyone?

I am not a coffee drinker, but I like to accommodate, and I loved this coffee station! Apparently, so did Gus (do you see him peeking his head out the window in the corner? hehe).

The staple of all get-togethers...the veggie tray. There's one at every party.

The bell-pepper-as-a-ranch-bowl idea came from Pinterest...it was one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" moments. I simply had to copy it.

Gourmet popcorn seems to be popping up (pun intended. I know...lame, haha) at parties everywhere, so I thought I would make it part of mine, as well.

My sister and I taste-tested a few different flavors at Popcorn Fharmacy in Oklahoma City before we settled on caramel and chocolate. Both=YUM.

Cotton candy also seemed to be a hit, with mostly everyone grabbing a bag on their way out.

I LOVED this popcorn and cotton candy set-up!.

Can't forget the nuts and pretzels...

...or other drinks...

Crafting

And, the reason for the party, of course...to craft!

Photo Booth

Photo booths are huge party trends right now, and they are such easy DIY projects. With plenty of room in our backyard, I thought, "Why not?"

I loved how the sunflowers were peeking over the fence. :) Click HERE to see photos taken at my DIY photo booth.

Thanks to everyone who took time out of their Saturday morning to come hang out, and a special thank you to Jordan Castillo for letting me borrow part of her awesome vintage collection. Check out her rental company, Swoon. It is simply awesome!

Until next time! <3
