Clean Car Kit
November 19, 2013
This past weekend, I traded my car in for a new 2013 Ford Escape. It has cloth interior, and if you know me, you know I'm not the most careful person when it comes to trying to keep a car clean--especially with cloth seats. So, I decided to be proactive and make a cleaning kit to keep in my car for the messes I will inevitably make. However, I will make a valiant effort NOT to make messes to begin with, but some things are just out of my control. :)
I decided it would also be a good idea to have a first-aid/emergency kit, so I took a few things from the first-aid kit in our house and put them in a small Ziploc bag. This is what I included:
Here is what I included in my clean car kit:
- Clorox disinfectant wipes (sealed tight in a Ziploc bag to keep moist). These can be used to clean the dash, console or other surfaces;
- All-purpose upholstery cleaner (a recycled small spray bottle filled with water and a couple drops of dish soap and rubbing alcohol);
- A toothbrush to scrub stains;
- Window cleaner and paper towels to clean fingerprints off windows (again, a recycled spray bottle filled with Windex);
- A small pocket knife;
- Recycled plastic bags for trash; and
- Q-tips (for cleaning dust out of vents)
I decided it would also be a good idea to have a first-aid/emergency kit, so I took a few things from the first-aid kit in our house and put them in a small Ziploc bag. This is what I included:
- Alcohol cleaning wipes
- Anti-bacterial ointment
- Band-aids
- Benadryl
- Cold & flu medicine
- Gauze
- Glowstick
- Ibuprofen
- Latex gloves
- Reflective emergency blanket
