Have you ever tried to plan a baby shower for a boy with NO use of the color "baby blue"? I am, and it is proving to be quite the challenge. I am determined to pull through, but it will be tough.

My sister is having a boy in less than two months, and his nursery colors are navy blue and white with a touch of red. It is not nautical-, Americana- or baseball-themed...simply patterns and colors. Very modern and chic for a boy. I am all about consistency and flow, so I am trying to carry over those colors into the shower, but absolutely everywhere I look is that baby blue. Lucky for me, there's this little thing called Pinterest.



It's not that I don't like the color baby blue. It's just that waaaay too many boy baby showers, gifts and nurseries are associated with it. Fortunately, my sister has good taste and chose to forego the traditional/overused/outdated baby blue trend and opt for a classier color palette and feel. I refuse to let her baby shower blend in with the rest of boy baby showers. She is unique, and I plan on making her baby shower feel the same.

It is already unique in that it will not be an afternoon shower. Because of my sister's work schedule, my mom and I are planning a mid-morning brunch! So, today's Friday Favorites is all about the navy blue ideas I've found to incorporate into the baby shower brunch, which I'm dubbing "Brittany's Baby Brunch." :) Here's a sneak peak at the Facebook event cover photo:
