DIY Wine Bottle Tiki Torches
September 25, 2014Okay, so they're not technically wine bottles, but you get the idea.
I wanted a light blue transparent bottle, and I happened to find them at Hobby Lobby for 50% off (so, $3.99 each). We think they are pretty cool!
After purchasing wicks, we discovered they weren't very long, so we decided to fill the bottom of the jar with small river rocks.
Hubs did a great job of making caps for them...
...and attaching them to the pillars of our pergola.
If you'd like to make your own, here's what you need:
- A glass bottle
- Tiki torch wick refill
- Tiki torch oil
- Small river rocks or sand (optional)
- Cap (we used 1/2" copper caps found in the plumbing section by the fittings at Lowe's)
- 1/2" to 3/8" copper reducer
- 3/8" galvanized ceiling hanger
- 1" galvanized hanger ring clamp with 3/8" threads
- Teflon tape rated for chemical use
- 1 ft 3/8" threaded rod
- 4 3/8" Hex nuts
- Weldless silver steel chain (small gauge for caps)
