My New Built-In Jewelry Organizer
January 03, 2017We like to take advantage of time off work and cross projects off our list. This was one of those projects.
When we were blessed to be able to build our first house in 2011 — and at ages 23 and 24 — we made a lot of great decisions and some not-so-great decisions. One of those not-so-great decisions resulted in a very narrow, almost impractical, closet. Unlike most people (women, especially), our closet was not one of my greatest concerns (and still isn't), so we've had to make some adjustments to it. It now works for us and this project made it even better.
As my jewelry collection continues to grow (thanks to my mom's gifting of Rustic Cuff!), I found myself running out of space to store it. Hubs had repurposed some old kitchen nobs to make some necklace hangers I've been using for a few years, but we came up with a better idea. One that wouldn't cost a ton of money and that would actually create more space.
Enter my new built-in jewelry organizer!
Hubs cut out two spaces in the wall and turned them into jewelry storage! Our initial idea was to make it one large window, but a pipe runs between them, so we made two separate ones instead.
Just to be clear, when I say "we," I mean "he." ;)
Daddy's little helper finally decided to show up, hehe!
This was a super inexpensive project; I'm surprised we didn't think of it sooner! And it didn't take long at all.
I now find myself looking for other ways we can utilize in-wall space. Like in our pantry: Maybe I'll have him cut out a built-in spice rack next!
Stay tuned!
