Twilight Party!
November 21, 2011I'm aware I'm a huge dork, but I am also a HUGE Twilight fan. I'm not as crazy as those who came to the midnight premier dressed as werewolves and vampires and in wedding veils, but some would say I'm crazy just for going at midnight :) I wanted to go all out for the next-to-last movie premier weekend, so my friend and I had a little fun with the whole vampire/blood red theme.
In addition to seeing it at midnight Friday morning, we also saw it Saturday night in the balcony at the Warren theatre, where they were serving vampire-themed drinks, like the Vampire Bite (basically a cherry vodka limeade). It's nice to know we're not the only ones who go all out :) So Saturday we had a Twilight marathon and watched the 3 movies leading up to Breaking Dawn Part I. I made some "blood-covered" popcorn just by adding some red food coloring to the butter. It was pretty neat :)
On another person's blog, I found some neat 5x7 movie quotes that I printed and sat around the house. Those "candleholders" are glasses that came with a punch bowl set we got for our wedding.
I went to Google Images and printed off some movie scenes and taped them to some sticks that I had and stuck them in a red vase I had lying around. The pinto beans I found came in handy when I needed the sticks to cooperate. Corey didn't even notice they were in the vase till I pointed them out. :)
I printed off the movie posters for all 4 movies and put them on the mantle in between candles.
Had to have some snacks :) So I made some chocolate cupcakes with white icing and dripped red food coloring over the top to make them look blood-splattered, and topped them with mini chocolate chips.
I added a different touch to my chocolate chip cookie recipe simply by sprinkling some red food coloring into the dough and mixing it in before adding the chocolate chips. :)
I also changed the regular bulbs out of the pendant lights over the bar for some red bulbs to give it the full Twilight effect. It was pretty neat.
I will probably use these ideas again, maybe with different colors, for birthday parties, Halloween parties, etc. I love going all out for occasions like this, even if it is just a movie. :) I know, I'm a dork. It's okay :)
