Pinterest Party: The Set-up

September 23, 2013

If you've ever thrown a party before, you know preparing for it is the most time-consuming part...more specifically, setting up the tables and chairs. The case was no different for me as I put together the table and chair decorations with A LOT of help from my sweet Hubs, sister and brother-in-law (Thanks guys!).

Having a party with a budget means cutting back on a few things that could possibly make it seem more clean and elegant. Like tablecloths, for example. After weighing my options between the more expensive cloth table covers and the cheaper plastic, throw-away table covers, I essentially went with the latter. I wanted table skirts as well, which made my decision easier because those were going to be a ridiculous amount to rent. Party Galaxy had everything I needed, including an unexpected gem: A plastic lace table overlay. Perfect!

Here are some photos of the set-up:

The baby's breath and fall flowers came from Sam's; I always love buying fresh flowers from Sam's. I can usually fill up five or six mason jars with small bundles, making a fresh seasonal centerpiece for every room in the house at an unbelievably affordable price. The adorable trinkets above were provided by Swoon Vintage Rentals.

After finding an overwhelming number of ways to incorporate burlap sashes onto these garden chairs, I finally decided to combine them with some sheer ivory ribbon and simply tie them in a knot. The cost was minimal because I waited until the burlap rolls were 50% off at Hobby Lobby and purchased all I needed then. This way also took less burlap and provided the perfect little pocket to stuff some baby's breath into.

I absolutely loved the way the tables turned out. I didn't really have a specific color scheme, but I did know I wanted to use lighter pastel colors to offset the boldness of the fall flowers. It was also easy to wipe the morning dew off rather than having it soak into cloth.

Then there's the food and drink spread. I don't have a wide angle lens for my camera so this is the best shot I have of it. I'm so glad I used skirts on these tables, even if they are plastic and wrinkly. I was afraid the overnight moisture would loosen the adhesive attaching it to to the table, but it worked like a charm. Luckily, the wind wasn't being too obnoxious that day.

My favorite part of the party: The Mimosa Bar
Pinterest definitely provided a lot of great ideas for this, but for the amount of people at my party, I thought three juice options would be the perfect amount. You can read more about the Mimosa Bar here.

Just a little decor for each side table was all that was needed--a few baby's breath sprigs in the tin sap buckets from Swoon Vintage Rentals.

The wind didn't want to cooperate with this table skirt. :)

We set up all of the tables and chairs the night before--including the table centerpieces--knowing we would have to spend some time wiping the dew off the next morning. The wind was super calm during the night and everything was just as we had left it. Having done the hard part the night before, all we had left to do was set out the food and drinks, which didn't take much time at all.

What do you think of the set-up? Would you have done something differently?

Thanks for reading and hopefully you've been inspired by one or more of these ideas!
