Party Utensil DIY

July 27, 2014

I like to look for ways to step things up a notch...not do things the easy or ordinary way. With my sister's baby shower coming up, I am busy looking for ways to do just that.

Today, it was 156,703 degrees here, so we stayed indoors to avoid the heat. I saw a cute tin can idea on Pinterest to hold plastic silverware in for parties and it inspired me to do a little something extra...

Usually at parties, you see plastic forks and spoons standing in cups next to a stack of napkins, right? Since the shower is still a week away, I thought I would do one better.

The color scheme is mostly navy and white with a hint of red...the same as his nursery. It is not nautical-, Americana- or baseball-themed, and there will be VERY FEW touches of the cliche baby blue. See this blog post to see how I plan on avoiding this color at her shower. :)

I LOVE the little blue footprint stamp–a bargain at Hobby Lobby–and the twine. With navy blue plastic forks, cups, plates, table cloths, etc., the red napkins will complement the decor perfectly.

Too cute!

I mentioned above the tin cans on Pinterest, and I still really like the idea, so I found a couple of expired cans in the pantry and made my own. :)

You never know when you'll need a couple of cans to hold something; Am I right?
