Our Own Little Backyard Beach!
March 30, 2015If you've been following along with our DIY backyard makeover we began last summer, you'll remember this awesome boardwalk we built. We had plans for it to lead to this great little beach-inspired fire pit. Then, fall and winter came and we got a bit lazy. Now, I'm so happy to share with you the finished product!
It is, by no means, the beach (obviously), but you know how Hubs and I LOVE the sand and saltwater, so we decided to bring one of those things to our backyard.
Built around a rock fire pit (think beach bonfire), we now have yet another place to watch these gorgeous Oklahoma sunsets. The first night's couldn't have been more perfect.
Earlier in the day, it looked like this:
We actually got those beach umbrellas on a trip to Destin back in 2013. How cool they come in handy now!
Don't worry...he got to enjoy it, too. :)
After I figure out a way to stay cool in the summer, this will be my favorite little hang-out when I feel the need to soak up some sun. It also gives me the opportunity to search Pinterest for some cool feet-rinsing station ideas!
My favorite time of day: Dusk! No need to worry about mosquitoes out here with all of these brightly-burning tiki torches!
(Disclaimer: All of these photos were taken with my iPhone, so excuse the sometimes-grainy quality).
We're excited the boardwalk no longer leads to a patch of grass, but to a fun, beachy (is that a word?) hang-out where we can feel the sand between our toes whenever we want.
Next up: Landscaping, a little more lighting and (hopefully) a water feature! Stay tuned!
UPDATE May 16, 2017
We have since changed out the beach umbrellas and removed the tiki torches. Here are some updated photos!
