Wild Weekend!

September 04, 2011

Wow! What a weekend the Walls have had! We closed on our house first thing Friday morning and immediately started moving stuff in. Due to limited space in our small apartment, we didn't have that much big furniture to move. We did have an entire storage closet full of wedding gifts that were never unboxed, so it was like opening them all over again! There were a lot of things we had forgotten about, and other things that we couldn't wait to start using (like an actual set of glasses other than the random plastic OU cups we had collected over the years). I started putting stuff up in the kitchen Friday and before I knew it, it was 1:30 am...and there was a 5k to run the next morning at 7:30. It never had a chance. I had been looking forward to it and working for it, but it was just not going to happen.

My 'rents came up Friday evening and helped us with some stuff too (thanks y'all!), so it's been fun hanging out with them. They also have a brand new house that just got finished; I can't wait to see it!

After putting everything in their places in our house, we discovered there are A LOT of things that we need. For example, we need end tables for the living room. The way we have our furniture arranged, we can't have square tables, and round tables would take up too much unnecessary room, so Corey will custom build them for the size we need, and I will paint/glaze/distress them. I <3 my handyman hubs. In fact, he's in the garage right now building a rack to hang my margarita glasses from (thanks Kasey! :) ). He has already been re-wiring something to do with junction boxes too! You go hubs! I know what you're wondering....what have I done? Well, I have been unpacking literally everything. Kitchen stuff (which was a 24 hour task in itself), clothes, shoes, chairs, decor for the rooms, and all of the other junk now has a place to call home. I did find time to make some peanut butter fudge and El Chico's white sauce. What? We weren't supposed to have anything to eat while watching the game? (BOOMER SOONER~)  :)

Anywho, here's a pic of part of our kitchen. I'm sure there will be more to come, as always :)

Those red canisters in the corner were a steal (not literally :P) from Kirkland's. $15 for all 3, and they are HUGE! The kitchen has a cafe/coffee/latte theme, and the only places I can find stuff for it are Kohl's & Kirkland's. Half of the stuff I haven't seen in a while because the kitchen in the apartment was this.big so there was absolutely no room for it. I'm so glad I can see it all now! Still a ways to go though...

That's all I have for now. The other rooms are a long way from being finished, but I'm excited about all of the projects we will get to work on!

Btw, isn't this weather perfect? Praise the Lord for cooler temperatures and long weekends!
