Top Ten Tuesday: Fun Finds

May 08, 2012

Wow! It's already a week into May! This is just crazy...

Work has been super busy the past few weeks so we haven't really done much around the house, but I do want to share a few new discoveries I've made that have made my days brighter and happier. I couldn't narrow the list down to ten, so here are my top 12 fun new finds (in no particular order):

1. Land O' Lakes Cinnamon Sugar Butter
If you have not tried this yet, you are missing out big time. Hubs loves it in his oatmeal and I love it with wheat toast in the mornings. Possibly the best thing you can pair it with? A baked sweet potato. It will change your world.

2. Carrie Underwood's New Album Blown Away

It's been 2 1/2 years since Carrie has released some new music so I couldn't wait to buy her new album last week. It really is great! I've loved her since her Idol win and will always argue that she should win every Female Vocalist award out there for the rest of her life. :)

3. Gigi's Cinnamon Roll Cupcake
**Warning: This cupcake is highly addictive**
If you don't have a Gigi's anywhere near you, you're really missing out. Let me know and I'll be sure to eat your share too :)

4. ProHDR Photo App for iPad
I LOVE this app. It allows me to edit the contrast, saturation and brightness of a picture and has tons of filters you can apply to it. Here are some sunset photos I've taken with it from our backyard:

5. Freshly-Squeezed Lemon Lime Water

A few weeks ago, we bought a couple of big bags of lemons and limes at Sam's and we couldn't use them fast enough, so I filled up a pitcher with ice water and started slicing and squeezing every last ounce of juice out of them. It's such a refreshing cool drink, but I really love it because of the sour kick it has. I can't wait to try making these lemon lime ice cubes.

6. Bath & Body Works Pink Sangria Candle
Makes you want to break out the wine and lemons. :)

7. PicMonkey

When I first heard Picnik was shutting down, I started freaking out. Every time I needed to edit a picture, I went to Picnik. Granted it doesn't have as many features as Photoshop, it worked for what I needed and was so simple a caveman could've done it. Thank goodness they recommended PicMonkey as a replacement for it. It's set up exactly like Picnik was and everything is now as it was.

8. Sonic Frito Chili Pie
It's back.
It's $1.99
'Nuff said.

9. Vanilla Caramel Coffee Creamer
I have never been a straight-coffee-drinker and therefore have never owned a coffeemaker. We own an espresso machine because I like to add LOTS of steamed milk to anything with a coffee flavor. Hubs, however, loves coffee and he informed me of the many different flavors of coffee and all of the sugary stuff you can add to it; I thought I would give it a try. So a few days ago, we bought a coffeemaker. It's one of those that uses the K-cups and came with a few samples; I tried the French vanilla one. After it brewed, I added some of this vanilla caramel creamer to it along with a little whipped cream because that sounded good :). I must say it wasn't bad. In fact, it was actually pretty good. I also saw a cinnamon roll-flavored K-cup and some cinnamon-flavored creamer...I may be trying that next. As of right now, I still can't do regular black coffee, just French vanilla...with LOTS of additives. I feel so sophisticated and important walking around the office with a cup of coffee. Am I finally growing up?

10. Grown Up Easter Dress

When you were little, did your mom used to dress you up in big frilly dresses and hats on Easter Sunday? Mine did and my sister & I looked so cute :) Then we went through those teenage years where we rebelled against the Easter dresses. Now, it gives us an excuse to go shopping and buy something new, which is exactly what we did. I LOVED my Easter dress. It reminded me of something Lauren Conrad would wear.

11. Outback Steakhouse's Remoulade Shrimp Sauce

There is simply no other way to eat shrimp. Here's the recipe:

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tbsp stone ground mustard
2 tsp milk (or water)
1 1/4 tsp prepared horseradish
1 tsp minced celery (I haven't used this yet, and it still tastes the same)
1 tsp minced white onion
1 tsp minced green (or red) bell pepper
1/4 tsp minced fresh parsley
1/4 tsp white vinegar
1/4 tsp paprika
1/8 tsp ground black pepper
1/8 tsp ground cayenne pepper (I used 1/4 tsp)
1 pinch salt

Toss everything into a bowl and stir.

Sooooo de-lish!

12. New Vegetables!!
Bell pepper

Jalapeños

Last week we noticed our first jalapeños and bell peppers! It's still amazing to me how vegetables grow from tiny little seeds. I love watching their progress. I check them every day and swear I can see them getting bigger, even if they're not. Love it!

Till next time :)
