Pretty in Pano

April 22, 2014

Can we just take a second to appreciate Mother Nature? Sure, she cracks her whip every now and then--okay, A LOT--but I tend to look for the beauty in everything, so I was glad to see her put on a show yesterday afternoon.

As a small storm marched north to south (which is uncommon for Oklahoma), I was able to capture these amazing photos from our back porch...using my iPhone. Not kidding.

I took this right when I got home from work.

I uploaded this to Facebook...

...and would've done the same to this, but I didn't want to be that annoying person who shares fabulous photos for no reason (other than they are fabulous photos).

Granted, I did use the free Photoshop app on my phone to contrast the dark clouds to the bright blue sky, but I am not the artist here. Be sure to click the photos to enlarge them and get the full panoramic effect.

If you've been following my blog a while now, you'll know sunsets are high on my list of favorite things. After all, we chose this west-facing lot particularly for that reason. Being perched above the other houses in our addition makes for an un-obstructed view of the west. We do have to take extra precautions in the summer when it feels like the sun is burning through our thermal-backed curtains. But oh, the rewards we get.

This was taken after one of the many bouts of snow we had this winter.

A sun-less sunset still makes for a great view.

Can't forget about those equally-as-fabulous sunrises!

This one took a little effort as I had to walk a short distance up a hill in our neighborhood.

I totally get what Peta Mellark was saying in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire when he said the orange in sunsets was one of his favorite colors. I will never claim orange is a favorite color of mine (I'm a Sooner...When your biggest rival and annoying little brother's team colors are orange, you learn to hate it.), BUT it sure looks good in a sunset or sunrise!

The bad thing about spring in Oklahoma: the threat of severe weather and knowing a tornado could take out an entire town whenever it wants. The good thing about spring in Oklahoma: the moisture in the air makes for some great photography.
