See it for what it can be, not what it is

January 22, 2015

It's safe to say little man's nursery has consumed my life the last three weeks! The only piece missing is the dresser, and it's all coming together perfectly.

If you caught the sneak peek last week, you'll know we're going for a rustic feel in his nursery. While I can't wait to show it all to you in one reveal, I couldn't help but share the mobile I redid for the crib!

UPDATE: I added more dangly doodles to this mobile. See the nursery reveal post for pics!

I found a mobile on sale at Target that looked like this:

Since the nursery has no blue, green, gray or whales in it, I turned it into this:

I cut off all the ribbon, whales and fabric (but saved it as guides for how to cut my new fabric), and turned it into this after a little bit of sewing and lot of hot gluing. I ran across the perfect red plaid ribbon for the top, and I used a 2-inch circle punch to cut the perfect round circles out of scrapbook and cardstock paper. They're hanging by some twine I found in my junk/craft room. :)

This is probably my favorite creation yet, and I'm so excited for his room to be finished so I can show you what we've been working on the past few weeks!

XOXO

UPDATE:

I have since tripled the number of dangly doodles (not sure what to call those, LOL), and it now resembles this:

We put my five-month-old nephew, Mason, in the crib to let him test it, and he liked watching it go around in circles, so hopefully his cousin will like it, too!
