There's something about summertime that puts new, fresh ideas in our heads. The latest: this cute flagstone patio for our outdoor table, chairs and LED-lit umbrella.
For the past few weeks, we've had hints of summer weather, and it's reminded us why we love our backyard so much! While Hubs worked on some projects a few weekends ago, I prepped our outdoor oasis for another sunshine-filled summer!
It's FINISHED! Our backyard oasis is finally complete after a year's worth of projects!
The final piece of the puzzle came together the evening before my first Thirty-One party, so I was able to entertain the guests on the patio surrounded by the serene sound of the water fountain. Hubs did such a great job, and he did it on one of the hottest afternoons of the year. He's so proud of it, and he should be! It's the perfect finishing touch to our relaxing, inviting backyard.
Featuring flagstone rock and surrounded by egg rock and fresh landscaping plants, the pond and fountain are now the centerpieces of our backyard. I can't wait to lie in the hammock this fall and listen to the fountain of water.

So I've been on maternity leave since the beginning of June, which means I am home all day (or most of it). Thankfully, the show Yard Crashers is on the DIY Network in marathons during the day, and it has given me plenty of ideas of what else we can do to our backyard. Yes, Hubs has already built the deck, pergola, boardwalk, a beach-inspired fire pit and the beginnings of the landscape area, but we have a pretty good size yard, and the possibilities for the rest of it are endless. :)
Last summer, we began a backyard project that has grown into an entire backyard remodel. It is just as I had envisioned, and we're putting the finishing touches on it: Landscaping.
If you've been following along with our DIY backyard makeover we began last summer, you'll remember this awesome boardwalk we built. We had plans for it to lead to this great little beach-inspired fire pit. Then, fall and winter came and we got a bit lazy. Now, I'm so happy to share with you the finished product!
After a few weeks of getting our new-nephew-loving on, we are back at tackling our backyard makeover! We haven't really done much since finishing (and furnishing) our deck and pergola, but we have started our boardwalk, which will lead from our deck to a fire pit.
Our 8-hours-a-day jobs have gotten in the way of our progress, so we are not quite finished with the pergola yet. We did finish putting up the rafters and after making our sixth–yes, SIXTH–trip to Lowe's, we now have the stain for it and hope to have the rest of the batting up and stained this weekend.
After a long Fourth of July weekend, Hubs and I were back at it, picking up where we left off on our deck and pergola project. It's really starting to take shape now!
What a beautiful day it was here in Moore, Oklahoma! Hubs and I both took the day off from our regular jobs, but we worked harder than we would've been had we gone to work! The good thing about this work is we will be able to enjoy it the rest of the time we are in this house.
The temperatures were in the 70s and 80s with a light breeze...we couldn't have asked for a better July day to be outside. We took full advantage of it!
It has been quite a while since Hubs and I had a project going. In fact...I'm not even sure what the last one was. But, this next one is going to be a lot of fun!
If you've seen pictures of our backyard, you know we do not have a large covered patio. It leaves a lot to be desired, so we're doing something about it: We're building a deck and a pergola!
